The Redstone solar tower in South Africa has successfully achieved grid connection

Our Group is immensely pleased that the 100MW Redstone solar tower in South Africa has successfully achieved grid connection. John Cockerill is proud to have been selected by SEPCOIII and ACWA Power to design and supply the molten salt solar receiver located at the top the 248 meter-high tower, converting the intense stream of concentrated sunlight into high temperature green heat for power generation.
In the Redstone solar park, thousands of mirrors on the solar field reflect the sunrays to the John Cockerill solar receiver, which turns this solar energy into heat. The whole Redstone solar plant will generate annually 480 GWh of power for around 200,000 households in the Northern Cape Province. John Cockerill thanks SEPCOIII and ACWA Power for this success!
This solar receiver is the latest of a series of world class projects designed by our experts, amongst which the one our Energy team supplied for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai (UAE).
